Safety In Off-Road Vehicles

Safety is always on the mind of the serious off-roader. Roll cages, five point harness seats, and engine kill switches are some of the major precautions placed in vehicles to keep the driver safe. The first mode of safety and one of the most common procedures to place in your off-road vehicle would be the roll cage. The roll cage is made out of piping in many pieces that have angles welded into one piece to fit inside the vehicles cap to prevent the top of the car from caving in on its driver in the cause of a rolled car. This safety precaution has saved many lives and will continue to do so in the off-road community. The five point harness seat allows the driver to be in one place at all times throughout his off-road journey. This safety system is a very safe precaution to make sure the driver does not get thrown from the vehicle in the case of an emergency.  The engine kill switch is less common in the everyday off-road vehicle, but for the professionals this safety system is a must. This kill switch is often wired directly in the vehicle and has a remote controlled by a person outside to turn it off in case of a malfunction or accident. In all, off-road vehicles look are mean and tuff, but with the right safety features are safe and fun to drive.

  1. I have a jeep that has a roll bar. I didn’t know it was a safety feature though that’s good to know in case of an accident. This blog is very informative keep up the good work.

  2. I did not realize all of the safety precautions off roaders take on their adventures. It it pretty neat to see that they have developed all of these things for the driver to stay safe, such as the kill switch that can be controlled by a person outside the vehicle.

  3. Really interesting blog. Have you ever off-roaded? I went one time with my friend Lin, well not with him but in his truck. Me and my friend Anthony found his keys and went mudding in his truck, it was such a fun time. But good topic dude.

  4. My family is looking into getting a side by side right now, and this post defintely highlights a lot of things that need to be taken into consideration. Thanks!
